It was a night of celebrations as hundreds of women took to the streets for the Cotswold Midnight Walk.
For Jade Ellis, from Stroud High School, it was a night to mark her mum Donna’s wedding anniversary. Donna wore her wedding veil and Jade the tiara she wore to the big day six years ago.
For 10 women from Holy Trinity, Brimscombe, it was a night to enjoy each other’s company and raise money for Cotswold Care Hospice.
More than 200 women took to the streets of Gloucester to raise money for the hospice based in Minchinhampton. They started and finished at Kingsholm.
Kate Foster, from Painswick, who is also British Snowboarding Champion, joined the Curves gym team to take part.
Three generations of Stroud women completed the walk. Diana Bilton daughter Penny Kibble and granddaughter Tilya took part to remember several friends and family.
“We’re walking in memory of several friends and family who we have lost, including my father,” said Penny.
Mother and daughter team Rosa and 12-year-old Chloe Wathan, from Frampton, took part to remember a friend who came to the hospice. “We had a friend who has not long passed away from skin cancer,” said Rosa. “She came to the hospice and we wanted to do something to remember her.”
“We had a perfect night and we owe a great debt of gratitude to the women who took part,” said Jennifer Green, head of fundraising. “More than £14,000 has been pledged which is an incredible achievement.”
Every year Cotswold Care Hospice helps more than 500 people with life-limiting conditions and their families. All its services are provided free of charge.
